Biseptol is a complex antibacterial medication containing co-trimoxazole, a combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. Both components act on the same biochemical pathway, providing enhanced antibacterial effect and slower development of bacterial resistance. The medication is indicated for treating infections caused by susceptible microorganisms in adults, adolescents, and children over 6 years of age.
Indicații: Urinary tract infections caused by susceptible strains of E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Morganella morganii, Proteus mirabilis, and Proteus vulgaris. Acute otitis media caused by susceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae. Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis caused by susceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae. Gastrointestinal tract infections caused by Shigella species. Pneumonia caused by Pneumocystis jirovecii and prophylaxis of this infection in immunocompromised patients. Traveler's diarrhea in adults caused by enteropathogenic E. coli.
Dozaj: Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 960 mg twice daily for urinary tract infections (10-14 days), chronic bronchitis exacerbation (14 days), or gastrointestinal infections (5 days). Children 6-12 years: 480 mg every 12 hours. For Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia: 90-120 mg/kg/day divided into doses every 6 hours for 21 days. Prophylaxis: 960 mg once daily for 7 days. Tablets should not be divided. Oral administration.
Compoziție: Sulfamethoxazole (sulfonamide) and trimethoprim in appropriate proportions as co-trimoxazole.
